The Retreat
A soul-nourishing, creative retreat for women who are ready to stop shrinking and start expressing — through art, rest, and radical permission.
Oct 23-27th 2025 Marmora, Ontario, Canada

We spend so much of our lives being who others want us to be, but how often do we pause and ask ourselves what we want? The Good Girls Make Bad Art Retreat is a gentle exhale, a sacred pause. A reclaiming of your wild and free self. The one who longs to break free from all society tells her to be. It’s a weekend to remember who you are beneath the noise. To rest. To play. To make art that doesn’t ask for permission. This is where you lay it all down and return to yourself — wildly, honestly, and beautifully free. This retreat is a coming home to yourself.
This retreat is for BOTH the artist longing to reconnect to creative freedom, and the woman who has possibly never used art as a creative expression before. All are welcome to come explore the deep well of magic, truth and freedom through the art making practice within a safe and supportive group of women ready to hold and cheer you on. We can't wait to have, and hold you.
As the seasons shift and the world begins to quiet for winter, we invite you to do the same.
The Good Girls Make Bad Art retreat is a sacred weekend to pause — to take off the heavy coats of perfectionism, people-pleasing, and performance. Here, you are invited to soften, to create, to laugh, to cry, to be without explanation.
Who This Retreat is For...
This retreat is for women who:
-
Feel like they’ve been performing or pleasing for too long
-
Crave creative freedom and want to reconnect with their inner spark
-
Are tired of shrinking and ready to take up space — with paint, with voice, with joy
-
Long to be in a community where truth, tenderness, and imperfection are all welcome
-
Want to slow down, make a glorious mess, and feel more like themselves again.
You do not need to identify as an artist.
If creativity has always felt like something reserved for “other people,” let this be the place where you gently reclaim it as yours.
All you need is an open heart and a willingness to explore. Everything else will meet you there.

Meet your host + therapeutic art instructor
Stephanie Chinn is the Indigo, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon best- selling author and illustrator of her debut book Here Sister, Let Me Help You Up: Messages of Sisterhood, Self-Care, and Body Love. She is a speaker, artist, and therapeutic arts practitioner whose work is centered around reminding women of their inherent worth in a world that often attempts to diminish it.
Stephanie is on a mission to create safe and healing spaces, for women, through the practice of art-making and will be guiding every live call.
"I have lived with the good girl narrative for my entire life. It has made me feel like I have to make sure the world know I am a good person, which in theory — feels harmless, but it made me shrink myself significantly more than I would have ever thought. It ramped up my perfectionism, anxiety and silenced the part of myself that just longed to explore this big beautiful life of mine. One thing I have learned through guiding women through this work the past 5 years, is so many of us hold ourselves back because we believe we have to be perfect to show up, to try. This has been built into us as young girls, and unraveling this will liberate you in ways you cannot yet see." - Stephanie
Also, Olive - because she is at all of my local retreats! Our little emotional support lover for the weekend!
