Created for the tender hearts moving through this kind of loss, these pages offer guided art-making, reflective writing, coloring pages, and gentle creative prompts to help you hold grief with softness and care while honoring the deep love story you shared.
 
Created by artist and therapeutic arts facilitator Stephanie Chinn after the loss of her beloved dog, Nom Noms, this book was born from the understanding that losing an animal companion can be one of the most life-altering heartbreaks we experience. Our animals are not “just pets.” They are family, home, routine, safety, and often the ones who loved us most unconditionally.
 
Rather than asking you to rush toward healing or search for meaning before you are ready, The Spaces They Leave stays gently beside you in the grief itself. It makes room for the many emotions that can live alongside loss: love, anger, guilt, tenderness, disbelief, gratitude, longing, and the ache of missing the ordinary moments that once filled your days.

This book is printed at 8.5 x 11 inches on thick, archival-quality paper, designed for markers, colored pencils etc...so you can use whatever supplies you'd like!

Inside are healing journaling prompts, coloring pages, reflections, and creative exercises, accessible for all ages, meant to support you through your grief and to help you honor the love you shared with your beloved soul-pet. This is a book to move through at your own pace, and to return to as often as you need.
